Phoenix PD Make Several Sex Crime Arrests at Local ‘Porn Studio’

by on October 28, 2013

Officers from the Phoenix Police Department had been investigating the local business, “Self Serve Porn Studios” for approximately eight months before conducting a raid in June. While the business claimed to be a legal operation that allows customers to star in their own amateur pornographic videos with the studio’s “models,” Phoenix PD alleged that it was nothing more than a brothel offering prostitution.

One former employee explained to officers that customers were first asked to sign a release form stating they were recording a fantasy, after which they received a ‘medical check’ before taking some photographs or filming a video. Finally, the customer would “fulfill their fantasy” with a model of their choosing. According to sources, the studio charged $120 for sex.

According to former employees and customers, the owner, William Hartwell, would assure both his workers and patrons that their actions were completely legal because it was pornography. Phoenix PD came to a very different conclusion and arrested Hartwell, his co-owner, Michelle Marchetti, and several prostitutes during the June raid.
