Phoenix Valley Dance Instructor Charged with Sexual Conduct with a Minor

by on September 30, 2013

26-year-old dance instructor, David Trujillo has been accused of having a sexual relationship with his 16-year-old student more than three years ago. Though the allegations originally surfaced back in 2012, only recently did the victim admit to the relationship.

According to court documents, Trujillo was working as an instructor at the Ahwatukee facility, Dance Studio 111 prior to his arrest. He has also volunteered at several Phoenix Valley high schools over the past eight years.

The victim, now 19, was reportedly a 16-year-old student at Mountain Pointe High School at the time of the abuse. Trujillo instructed the boy both during a dance class and a dance club, and the sexual relations allegedly took place at a local hotel.

Trujillo has been charged with two counts of sexual abuse and 15 counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Even though he was employed as a “community volunteer” at the time of the offenses, Trujillo did meet the definition of a “teacher” and will likely face increased charges as a result.
