Sexual Conduct with a Minor

Sexual conduct with a minor is a very serious offense in the state of Arizona. There is a long list of punishments that follow a conviction of such a crime. A few of these punishments are outlined by Arizona law below:

A.R.S. 13-1405

A person is guilty of sexual conduct with a minor if they knowingly or intentionally has sexual intercourse or oral sexual contact with any person who is under the age of 18.

Having sexual conduct with a person who is under 15 years of age is a class 2 felony. If the child is at least 15 years old, it’s a class 6 felony. If the child is 15 years old, but the adult is the child’s parent, stepparent, adoptive parent, legal guardian, priest, or teacher, the sentence increases from a class 6 felony to a class 2 felony.

A.R.S. 13-705: Dangerous Crimes Against Children

If an adult has sexual conduct with a minor who is under the age of 15, the offender will spend between 13 and 27 years in prison for a first offense.

A.R.S. 13-702: First-Time Felony Offenses

If an adult has sexual conduct with a minor who is at least 15 years old, the offender will spend 6-18 months in prison for a first offense.

A.R.S. 13-801: Felony Fines

Class 2 Felony: No more than $150,000.

Class 6 Felony: Not to exceed $150,000.

A.R.S. 13-902: Probation Periods for Felonies

Class 2 Felony: 7 Years

Class 6 Felony: 3 Years
